One of the frequently asked questions: "Can I pay a bill that is not in my name, but in someone else's name?" In general practice the answer is yes. Paying a bill is not sending money to a person, it is closing the debt of a subscription. Therefore what matters is not who makes the payment but which subscription it is made for.
The only information needed: the subscriber number
To make the payment it is enough to know the subscription number. For electricity the installation number, for natural gas and water the subscriber number, and for mobile the line number are used. The payment closes the debt registered to that number; at the end of the transaction the debt no longer appears, whoever it belongs to.
Where can you pay?

Points to pay attention to
- Verify the number: a payment made to the wrong subscriber number closes another subscription's debt; the refund process varies by institution and takes time.
- See the amount at the time of payment: make sure the amount on screen after the query belongs to the bill you want to pay.
- Keep and share the document: sending the receipt to the bill's owner clears any doubt from the start.
- Do not confuse it with a money transfer: sending money to a person (by name or IBAN) is a separate transaction that requires ID; it is not the same as paying a bill.
A practical way for family far away
Following the bills of parents in another city is one of the most common scenarios. Once you save their subscriber numbers you can see the debt every period, pay before the due date and remove the risk of a late payment charge. That way they do not have to queue and you stay in control of the process.
