How Do You Send Money to Someone Without a Bank Account?

How Do You Send Money to Someone Without a Bank Account?

18 August 2026

When we think of sending money, an IBAN comes to mind first. Yet one of the most common everyday questions is: “The recipient has no bank account — how do I send the money?” The answer is a transfer to a name. Here the money is sent not to an account but to a person; the recipient shows their ID and collects it in cash.

How does a transfer to a name work?

It works in three steps and neither side needs a bank account:

  • The sender goes to an authorised service point or starts the transaction in the app and enters the recipient’s full name and the required details.
  • When the transaction is completed a reference (transaction number) is created and passed on to the recipient.
  • The recipient goes to the nearest point with their ID and receives the cash once the details are verified.

With PTN (Money Transfer Point), Faturamatik’s money transfer brand, this can be done at authorised points in 81 provinces. Faturamatik is a payment institution licensed by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, and transactions are carried out under that assurance.

What information is needed?

  • The sender’s ID: the transaction requires identification — a legal obligation and a security step.
  • The recipient’s full name: exactly as written on their ID, without abbreviations or spelling mistakes.
  • Amount and currency: Turkish lira domestically; for transfers abroad, different currencies may be used depending on the channel.
  • Where the recipient will collect it: the province, district or country point is set during the transaction.

Who is a transfer to a name practical for?

It is not only for people “without an account”: it also suits those who have one but want cash or are in a hurry. Common examples: sending pocket money to a student in another city, supporting family back home, paying a tradesperson without an account, or covering a cash need while travelling.

What should you pay attention to?

  • Give the name exactly as it appears on the ID: even one letter’s difference can delay collection.
  • Share the transaction number only with the recipient — never on social media or with strangers.
  • Ignore “send it first” requests from people you do not know: a transfer is hard to reverse.
  • Keep your receipt: it is your only proof if a question arises.

In short, a bank account is not the only way to send money. Done with the right details, a transfer to a name is a fast and secure alternative: both sender and recipient can complete it with nothing more than their ID.
